Pin the Red Nose on Rudolf Christmas Party Game

by: S. Roberts

This is a simple children's Christmas party game. I deal for young children due to the simple rules and it’s all round good fun.

Preparing the game

Draw a large reindeer to pin on the wall or to stick to a table. Try not to leave indented drawing lines on the paper, we don't want any cheating!

Make a red nose and cut it out. Or you could paint a Ping-Pong ball red and use that for Rudolf's nose. Stick some blue tack on the back of the nose so that it easily sticks to the large reindeer drawing.

How to play

Blindfold your first contestant with a scarf. Give them the nose and then turn them round 3 times and then guide them to the reindeer picture.

The contestant must then stick the nose on where they think Rudolf's nose should be in the picture whilst still blindfolded.

Once the nose is stuck in place, the contestant can remove their blindfold to see the result. The referee should mark the spot with a small 'x' and then label it with the contestant's name. Blindfold the next contestant to repeat the process.

Once everyone has taken a turn, the winner is the contestant whose 'x' is closest to the correct place for Rudolf's bright red nose.

Christmas Jigsaw Pazzle Game

All you need is some Christmas card. One for each team. Cut the front of each Christmas card into four equal parts in abstract shape and pack them separately.

Show each player their jigsaw in its made state. This will assist them to know what their jigsaw should look like, and so they can familiarise themselves with the individual pieces within their jigsaw.

Get the players out of the room whilst you hide all of the jigsaw pieces in various places within the room. Behind curtains, under tables, behind cushions etc.

Get the players back into the room. They must now find all of their own jigsaw pieces, discarding all of the others, and be the first to complete their jigsaw puzzle. The first player to complete their jigsaw correctly is the winner.

About getting and maintaining your live Christmas tree

When selecting a Christmas Tree for your party, purchase the freshest tree possible. Unless you cut out yourself or watch them cut it, you will not know how fresh the tree is unless you ask. You may ask the sales person where the tree come from and when the tree ws cut.

Once a tree is cut, it loses moisture. You may examine the needles or leaves closely and look for a tree with green needles and very few brown needles. Most of these trees are sprayed to retain their green longer, so get a feel of the needles to check. The needle of the tree should be moist pliable and should not break easily when bend.

When delivering or storing your tree before you place it at your home, make sure the tree should not get direct sunlight. It is good to store it at the garage where there is both no light and wind thus will not dry the tree easily.

When you are about to erect the Christmas tree in your home, make a fresh cut on its trunk about one-half inch. This will allow the tree to more easily absorb moisture from the base. Place the tree in a water stand that hold one gallon of water and replenish the water frequently. When you first place the tree immediately after making the fresh cut, make sure the base hs hot water in it so as to prevent the freshly cut from sealing, thus allowing more water to absorb into the tree.

Do not errect a live tree too early as most tree do not last more than three or four weeks. So do not get a tree too early.

Remember when decorating the live tree, use small lights that generate low heat. Remember heat will hurt the live tree.

Christmas decoration

Ice sculpture
Making the globe is not a difficult task - all you have to do is fill balloons with water and put them in your freezer. The balloons freeze from the outside in. It is important to regularly check that they do not freeze all the way through. After you see there is ice around the inside of the balloon you should pop it and drain the water out of the centre of the balloon. You might have to chop a hole in the top in some cases.

This is the process that gives you ice globes. You can get different sizes of globes if you use different sizes of balloons. I personally tried something else, as well - I used rings from canning jars to make base to stand the globes on. Then you have to place a candle in each ice globe and that's how you realize one of the greatest Christmas decorating ideas. As we live in a cold climate, I put many globes in the yard on our steps and line our driveway. The candles are easily lit and the globe protects them from going out.

Another Christmas decorating idea I has was to create ice sculptures in the front yard which I made by several sizes of globes.

LED lights bulb decoration
The latest incarnation to arrive on the scene is the LED light bulb. These bulbs are approximately 35 time more efficient than an incandescent bulb and about 10 times more energy efficient than a fluorescent lamp. They come in many different colours as standard and can easily create a completely different mood in your home, depending on the color chosen.

Another advantage is seen with interior Christmas tree lights. Because LED bulbs run much cooler that incandescent lamps they are a much safer option when lighting your indoor tree, far less chance of a fire with less heat.

Simple home Christmas décor
One cute idea is to make a display of festive seasonal dolls or bears. You can add a small Christmas tree with little presents. This is a great way to get your children involved. It is important to let them choose the items so that you don't choose one of their security objects, because you don't want to have to take apart your display to rescue one of their favorites.

Another idea to help give your home that Christmas spirit is to use Christmas ribbon to tie bows all over your home. You can put them anywhere you can tie them, from your stair rails to your curtains.

Hanging stockings throughout your home is a wonderful way to add that festive feel in your home.

Outdoor Christmas décor tips
You should balance your outdoor decoration and what you should try to achieve is to convey a real sense of fun and spirit during the festive season without making your garden look like a mini theme park. There is so much to choose from when it comes to outdoor Christmas decorations that it can be a real task deciding what to actually opt for.

Amongs the outdoor decorations available, animated ones are popular, featuring traditional scenes and things such as moving santas and reindeers accompanied by a sleigh. Inflatable outdoor decorations are also available in blow up form as santa or a snowman, along with tamer decorative items like balloons.

Christmas – How To Create A Fun & Cherished Christmas!

by: Bernadette Dimitrov

A great way to ensure your Christmas will be remembered with warm and cherished memories is to incorporate some rituals. Adding rituals to the festivities will create fun and magic moments that will not only live in your families memories forever but will be excitedly looked forward to each year. Rituals will bring your family closer together creating joy and happiness for all!

Here is a fun ritual you could incorporate into this coming Christmas. Add some Christmas bells to the dinner table and ring them just before the festive meal is ready, calling all to attend the dinner table. Long before Christmas in the old days, bells were once rung with the assumption that the noise would chase away evil spirits. Santa Claus has jingling bells that he uses accompanying his sleigh ride around the world each year. His bells are symbols; they are jingled to remind us of the birth of new beginnings and the death of ignorance (once referred to as the devil).

Ringing bells before the meal is eaten is a wonderful reminder to push away judgments, speak no ills, and come together with a sense of joy, positivity and acceptance for one another. Make the festive meal a time where you all come together and share a positively good time. A time where only supportive words are spoken, encouragement and acknowledgement of each other is heard. Ringing the bells will remind all to keep positive, bright and joyous!

So have some fun, get yourself some jingling Christmas bells and chase away any menacing spirits or thoughts before the festive meal. You can be creative with your jingling and get your children to enjoy a brisk stroll through the house or around the dinner table as they jingle the bells joyously to ensure no menacing mischief makers will be heard on the day! The children will love this fun activity and all will enjoy the friendly reminder of the bells if anyone starts to slip up on their good attitude throughout the day!

Another ritual you could incorporate is the ‘Mistletoe Game’. This is a very old Christmas game where it was once common place to have suspended Mistletoe hung in the main room. For this game everyone would assemble in a circle around the Mistletoe. The first player (a male) has to slide a slipper and aim so it will land under the Mistletoe. If he fails another takes their turn. If he succeeds, even more fun begins as there is a scramble in the direction of the lady towards which the slipper points. She must seize the slipper and get away before being caught!

Rituals offer the opportunity for family and friends to interact in a joyous and fun manner. So why not add a few rituals to your festive day to add some fun and create great memories of a truly joyous and happy day.

Christmas Stockings For Stocking Fillers

by: S. Roberts

Stockings and stocking fillers are an old Christmas tradition. When Santa Claus went down some chimneys, occasionally small gifts fell out of his sack and landed inside people’s socks and stockings that were hanging around the fireplace to dry over night. The owners of the stockings and socks were happily surprised on Christmas morning to find their stockings filled with 'stocking fillers'.

Nowadays, stockings are a firm feature of Christmas however, we do tend to hang out our stockings more expectantly rather then to appreciate a welcome accident.

To make a mini Christmas stocking you will need... Assorted coloured pieces of felt, coloured thread, ribbon, glue and a print out pattern (see the link at the bottom for a free printable patter)
Cut out the pattern piece.

Place the stocking pattern piece onto a piece of felt. Put the pattern close to the edge of the felt to save fabric. Cut right up to the pattern piece, there is no need for a seam allowance. Two main stocking parts are needed for each stocking. These can either be the same or different colours.

Pin the two pieces together and working on the right side, work blanket stitch around the edge of the stocking to sew he two parts together.
Tack a loop of ribbon inside the top of the stocking at the back. This is the loop for hanging the stocking up.

Decorate the front of the stocking with holly leaves and berries cut from scraps of felt. Stick them into place with PVA glue.
You could personalise the stockings by embroidering a name or initials on it.

Sequins make attractive decorations. Sequins look really festive near the Christmas tree, reflecting the light from the fairy lights.
Another simple decorative idea is to cut away shapes in one side of the stocking before blanket stitching them together. This Lacey effect is pretty and shows off a little of the stocking filler inside.

These little stockings are ideal for small gifts, such as sweets, chocolates, money, nail varnish, broaches, and other little trinkets. Hang them on the fireplace or on the Christmas tree.

Christmas Gifts For Dog Lovers & Their Dogs

by: Adriana Copaceanu

If you have dog lovers in your family, it’s time to think of some unique gifts you can give them this Christmas. They will remember this gift for a long time if you not only give them a gift form themselves, but include something for their dog or puppy.

To get your ideas flowing, here are some gifts you can get for the dog lover: of course, if you can take some pictures of their dog in advance, many of the following ideas will be even more special.

-a T-shirt/sweatshirt that says “My Dog Loves Me” - they’ll be proud to wear it.

-a picture of their dog framed in a paw picture frame - there is no better way to let them know you love them: every time they walk past this picture, they’ll be reminded of your kind gesture, and that you took the time to give them something special.

-a collectible figurine featuring their dog breed - this will become part of the room décor.

-a dog lover’s calendar - excellent gift that keeps on giving: every month they’ll have a new beautiful dog to look at and enjoy.

-a nice, fuzzy, personalized throw to keep them and their dog warm on chilly evenings.

-a cooking book with dog recipes

-dog lover screen saver

Now that you picked a nice gift for the dog lover, it’s time to find some gifts for the dog. Here are just a few ideas to get your started:

-a plush toy: be it a ball, a bone, or some other shape, dogs really enjoy these fluffy toys. Some come with a noise maker, but be careful that this toy won’t become annoying for the owner

-doggy clothing: you may get something pretty, or, if you like practical, get something warm for the winter, so when they take a talk the dog stays warm.

-doggy treats are very popular these days, and you can find them in pet stores everywhere. but, if you have the time, cook some treats yourself, and make a new friend.

-treat machine, similar to the candy machines, where you press a handle and get a piece of candy. This will entertain the dog for hours and get him a treat every time he presses the handle. What fun!

-pampering items, like doggie shampoo, a nice brush, and even a nice bandana.

So, as you see, there are lots of ways to spoil your dog lover friends and family and their pet.

Christmas Craft Idea: Bead and Pipe Cleaner Ornaments

Christmas ornaments made from ordinary pipe cleaners and inexpensive acrylic beads are very pretty and easy to make. They look quite impressive yet are easy enough for small children to make. This is one Christmas craft idea to use again and again. Older people will enjoy making this Christmas craft, too, which can be varied to make a number of different sparkling ornaments for your Christmas tree.

To make the bead and pipe cleaner ornaments, you need common pipe cleaners in desired colors and acrylic beads. Two types of beads are particularly effective when strung on pipe cleaners. One type are called sunburst beads, but are also known as paddlewheel beads, snowflake beads, or starburst beads. These beads have six faceted paddles spaced equally around a center that contains the hole for stringing. When several of these sunburst beads are strung consecutively, they fit against each other in an interlocking pattern.

The other type of bead that is also effective for this Christmas craft is called the tri bead or propeller bead. It has three rounded bumps arranged around the stringing hole. Like the sunburst beads, the tri beads interlock when strung consecutively. For the most sparkly and attractive Christmas ornaments, get tri beads and/or sunburst beads in translucent colors of red, green, and clear. The tri beads can also be found in metallic gold and silver which can be used in this Christmas craft as well.

Pipe cleaners can be found in silver and gold tinsel as well as chenille of all colors. For the Christmas craft, the best colors to use are the metallics and Christmas colors. The beads cover the pipe cleaners, but the ends will need to be twisted together and made into hangers, so they show.

Anyone, even small children, can string these beads on pipe cleaners. Bend up the end of the pipe cleaner so the beads don't fall off. The pipe cleaner works like a needle, making a needle unnecessary. For best results, show the children how to alternate colors when stringing, or start a pattern of three colors. When the beads are strung on the pipe cleaners, they can be bent into different Christmas shapes. For instance, string red and clear beads alternately, then bend down one end of the pipe cleaner for a candy cane shape. Or alternate red and green beads and form a circle for a wreath. Use red pipe cleaner to form a small bow to decorate the wreath. Form a hanger for the Christmas craft or simply slip the circle over a branch of the tree.

If you experiment with clear beads and silver pipe cleaners, you can make some beautiful snowflake or star ornaments. Snowflake designs can be twisted of silver pipe cleaner only, without the beads for a simple but pretty decoration.

Bead and pipe cleaner ornaments are a Christmas craft you will find yourself using every year. Children and their parents will both appreciate this simple yet pretty Christmas craft.
